Since I am new to paper crafting I have been doing a lot of experimenting and blog hopping and taking classes online. So, I want to thank everyone for generously posting pictures and videos to help me on this exploration. One of the classes I took was through online card classes by Jennifer McGuire. I loved this class, it taught me lots of techniques. Here is a picture of the canvas that I made from the class. Each heart is a different technique.
One of my favorite techniques was on the second row in the middle. Using the paper rosette die by Tim Holtz. Using this technique lead me to make a couple of other projects.
For this card I used the Tim Holtz pinecone die but since it's not practical to mail a pinecone I replaced it with a paper rosette. I used a rubber stamp by Hero Arts and colored it with pastel pencils. Then I used Distress Inks for the edges. The brown herringbone background is paper from Little Yellow Bicycle.
For this mat I went a little crazy with the paper rosettes, but I just love them. I made different sizes and layered some on top of each other and some I added a snowflake punch on top with a crystal or pearl embellishment. I used the Tim Holtz pinecone die again but didn't watch the video from his blog until after I made the pinecone. But I highly recommend watching his video and I will do it his way next time. The snowman is another Sizzix die Snowmen #2 and I also inked the edges of him with Distress Inks and around the inner edges of the mat. I used paper from Little Yellow Bicycle, Winterings collection.
That's all for today!
Take Care
Lisa
I forgot to mention that the layout for the mat above came from a similar one by Heather Leopard on the Little Yellow Bicycle website. Thanks for such a great layout idea!
